Austria: The Ministry of Health is changing the rules on the green passport. In the future, the vaccination in the Corona card will be valid for one year. This has been determined as of today.

The Ministry of Health published on Friday in the Federal Law Gazette that a full vaccination is valid for twelve months. Until now, the Corona vaccination in the green passport had an “expiration date” of nine months.

For several countries, entry requirements will be tightened because they fall from the list of countries with a low epidemiological risk. These include the USA, the Western Balkan states of Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania. In the future, travel from these countries will only be permitted with a vaccination. Likewise travellers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brunei, Israel, Japan and Thailand must present a vaccination proof.

The only new country on the “green list” is Uruguay, which was previously on the “red list” of virus variant countries. Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe are also removed from this list. On the other hand, Costa Rica and Suriname will be classified as virus variant areas in the future. Extensive entry restrictions and mandatory quarantine apply to these countries.
